Exec. VP of Research, University of Louisville
A professor of pharmacology and toxicology with a joint appointment as professor of chemistry, Pierce’s research interests include medicinal chemistry, drug-targeting for bone related diseases, use of chromatography and mass spectrometry for biomarkers and other biomedical research. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Louisville and was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Stanford University.
He holds several patents and has also co-founded a biotech start-up company, Pradama. Inc. which is working to develop new treatments for bone metabolic disease, bone infection and bone cancer.
Previously, he was special assistant to the provost for strategic planning, served on the UofL Athletic Board, chaired the university’s Faculty Senate twice, also serving on the University of Louisville Board of Trustees.
